J.D.'s Check Up

So I am going to just make this short and sweet. J.D.'s kidney is all better!

His specialist said that it's now the same size as the other, and although it is still retaining some fluid, its not enough to cause any alarm. Then she said "He doesn't need to come back anymore." I heard the words, but couldn't let them sink in. After 4 years of this, plus 2 years ago she had told us that they would be keeping an eye on him until his teenage years, but no! No more! When I finally absorbed what she had said I was happy and honestly a little sad at the same time. Sad, because this has been a part of J.D. since before he was even born, and a part of him is no more. I told Josh this, and he must have thought I was crazy. He told me that its a part of him that we want gone, which is 100% true.

Now to fill in the day, if you are interested. When we finally reached Seattle, J.D. wanted to know where Seattle's house was (how cute is that? I am not sure if he heard "See Attle" like in a person or what). Now we didn't tell him what the trip was for, because he hates going to our doctor here, and freaks out. So we just kept it quiet, until we pulled into the hospital. He looked around and said "Are we at a hospital?" Josh broke the news to him, and he took it really well. I took him in and got us checked in while Josh parked the car and brought Lily in. I kept a close eye on J.D., but while we waited for both appointments, he acted as if nothing was wrong. And we had to wait almost an hour from our appointment time because Radiology was running so far behind. The kids did great though!

Coloring to pass the time

When we were finally called back for his ultrasound J.D. once again surprised us. He laid on the table and let the tech. do what she needed to do without a sound! He obeyed her every word. I was so proud of him for being so brave.
He even got to see his own kidneys.

After the ultrasound, we then had to go to the Urology clinic to see the specialist. Here, they have the highlight. A wonderful fish tank. Each time we have gone, J.D., and then Lily, have enjoyed looking at the fish.
After seeing the specialist, we then headed for Cabela's so the kids could look at more fish and all the animals. They enjoyed that, but Lily enjoyed the escalator more! She just wanted to go up and down it over and over again.
Daddy taking her for once last round before we left.
It was a long day. We left just before 11am and didn't get home until 9pm, but it was a GOOD day!
