One Of Those Rare Mondays

Our Mondays usually consist of getting Josh's paycheck and paying bills or going to buy groceries and our weekly supply of whatever we may need. They also include meetings and now me kickboxing at night. However, this past Monday was a rare day that we had NOTHING to do. No bills, no paycheck, no meetings......nothing! So we took our opportunity and headed to the coast for a spontaneous day. Josh packed us a picnic lunch before we left and said we would eat somewhere along the way. I just had no idea where. When we reached Seaside, he took us to the cove. I love the cove. It's full of rocks and tiny tide pools. I'd take the cove over a sandy beach any day! So after our lunch we headed out for the rocks to do some exploring. J.D. and Lily have never been to the cove before so this was a whole new experience for them.

J.D. loves rocks, and he immediately started finding some that he wanted to take home. Here he is lining them up on the curb.

Lily found some rocks too!

Snails and barnacles

I found a starfish!

Now I am going to tell you that as we were climbing over some of these large rocks, J.D. was scared and wanted Josh to carry him. Lily on the other hand, well, I told Josh that she sounded like she was drunk. She would leap off of rocks trying to make it to the next one. Yes, I was holding her hands as best I could. She was so excited and enjoying the rocks that as she jumped she would yell "WEEEEE" or "WOOOOOHOOOO" at the top of her lungs. This was the perfect alliteration of the very different personalities of J.D. and Lily.

I don't know how Josh managed to capture this

picture of both kids sitting still together but he did!

Heading back.

I also told Josh that we needed a backyard full of large rocks for Lily.

We came home with lots of treasures: rocks and shells. When we were done at the cove we then went to Joyce's house for a couple of hours. There Lily and I took a walk down her driveway, Lily splashing in mud puddles and just enjoying the moment. We walked down to see the goats and they came out to visit us. J.D. got to dig in the sand and we saw our one remaining rooster from our first attempt of raising chicks. He is one beautiful rooster, and I think he knows it. He definitely struts his stuff. I have no doubt he would win blue ribbon at a local 4H county fair.

On the way home we talked about our favorite part of our day. J.D. said that his was playing Mario with Anthony (Mark Anthony). Mine was the cove and Josh just enjoyed the whole day. Lily was fast asleep from her busy day.
