So the last post I wrote about how we woke up to our morning surprise of snow and how J.D. said that we couldn't build a snowman because we had "little snow." Let me fill you in since then...
As we were eating breakfast I noticed that the snow we had was melting, and fast. So as soon as we were done eating, I bundled up the kids and we went outside to play in what was left. Around here, you have to seize the moment when snow does make an appearance. Anyways, by lunch time the snow was completely gone. Didn't look like we were going to get any more. BUT around 3:30 snow started to fall again, fast and thick. It didn't stop snowing night. We had 7 inches here! (To my family in the mid-west, you all think that's nothing, but for here, that's alot.) My friend want to go kickboxing that night, so we braved the snow and headed for our class. Our class doesn't end until 8pm, and it was still snowing. When I got home I once again bundled the kids up and we went and played outside. We made two snowmen, one for J.D. and one for Lily. We played hard and finally when it was too cold we came inside and the kids went to bed.
I love three things about snow, beside playing in it of course. #1 I love waking up to the gray light of a snowy morning and seeing such a perfect white blanket of snow, untouched.
#2 I love snow at night when it reflects the light of our street lights. It gives outside a "cozy" feeling.
and #3 I love how it seems to muffle out the city noises that constantly humm in the background. Yeah, its really quiet when it snows here.
So that has been our few days since we had snow. It all melted away Sunday afternoon, and has been raining ever since. Our backyard is now a huge swamp. I am sure we must have at least 4 inches of standing water. Thank goodness our chickens are in a raised coop.
