Beach Trip

This weekend was our annual coast trip. We decided to make it a little earlier because mom is leaving for Wisconsin at the end of this week, and Josh's friend from when he was little was getting married.
Saturday afternoon we left home to head to the wedding. We stayed the night with Josh's mom and sister. They were kind enough to watch the kids so we could go out for dinner. Josh also stopped by the Cove and he looked for rocks while I looked among the rocks in the little tide pools. I found lots of hermit crabs and young crabs and other funny looking sea creatures.

The next day we met mom, dad, Aaron and Katie at a restaurant for lunch, then headed to the beach for a nice walk.

Of coarse, you have to get your feet wet when you
go to the beach...even if the water is freezing cold!

J.D. got a free frisbee from the restaurant which
he used to dig in the sand with.

J.D. didn't want to get his feet wet...
until he found Spongebob's tooth!

Along the way back we stopped for some go-carts. J.D. was hoping to get to drive Speed, but we got King instead.

Then we headed to Fort Stevens to see Peter Iredale. This was a ship that wrecked on the beach back in the early 1900's.

Going down the "sand mountain" as J.D. called it

J.D. thought that the remains of the ship was
Noah's Ark.

And then J.D. wanted his turn...

After that, the kids were just full of sand so we decided to go home. It was a fun, slow, long and relaxing day for all of us. Josh treated us to pizza when we got back home, and Sandi and Kyle stopped by to visit too.
