Early today, Great Grandpa Moses passed away peacefully. He is now with the Lord and is rejoicing and praising Him.
His life here was truly blessed by God. He has an enormous family (when I was younger I often thought of him as Abraham when God promised him his descendants would be as numerous as the stars) and lived a very long life. Next month would have marked 101 years.
I loved it when Great Grandpa came to visit us. I remember how I would always run and jump in his lap when we would see him. And I will always remember his kisses! Great Grandpa always had a word of encouragement for me, and would even send me some of his essays. I knew it was really important when he started it with "Dear One". I have kept all of them and throughout the years have gone back and reread them.
Great Grandpa also came to our wedding and served us the elements for our first communion. All who attended our wedding cried as he gave the message of salvation. Many people still remark about his message to this day.
I have been blessed to know Great Grandpa. But I have been even more blessed by the example he has left behind for us to follow.
He truly loved his Savior, Jesus Christ.
My heart is torn in two; one side is rejoicing that he is now in heaven and the other side is mourning the loss of a wonderful great grandpa. But I know I will see him again.
