The Great Escape

On August 1 Josh, Chris & Carrie, Aaron, Edwin and Elizabeth gathered at the church at 5AM. Vehicles were soon unloaded and two vans were loaded with kids' clothes, sleeping bags and pillows. The Great Escape was about to begin!
Kids excited voices filled the parking lot and boys were scrambling to help find any space available for more bags.
A breakfast of muffins, banana's and orange juice was handed out and car assignments were read off. Then, with a prayer for safety for the drive up to Anacortes and the days ahead, everyone got into their vehicles for the drive up to Anacortes.
Arriving shortly after 10 in the morning, they waited to board the ferry that would take them to San Juan Island which would be their escape for the next 4 days.
On the ferry Josh went over the rules and told them what would happen when the ferry docked.
He along with Elizabeth and the youth group would walk the four and a half miles to their campsite while Chris, Carrie, Aaron and Edwin drove ahead of them to check in and start setting up camp. Along the hike they got to see and feed a very fat camel. It took them about two hours to hike to the campsite, but they enjoyed it.
Each day was filled with lessons, games and activites. The kids all had a great time. During this time one girl came to accept Christ and two other decided to come to Sunday School and church.

Check back soon for pictures and what Josh has to say about the Great Escape!
