Anniversary Trip Day 4

Early morning we headed back to Glacier to pick up where we left off...

..and to take a family picture

Lake McDonald

(previous day it was gray and choppy)

...and where we left off was just a few miles from the end of the road! Due to the snow the Going-to-the-Sun road was only open 16 miles from the entrance.
However, there was a foot trail that was open on the other side of the gate, so after another packed lunch we went exploring.

Where we were going

Then we found a opening off the path. Of course we had to check it out, and I am so glad we did. This is my most favorite memory of Glacier. It was like we stole a moment of time from Glacier; we had found a secret within her boundaries.

It was so quiet, you couldn't hear the other people walking along the trail. All you heard was nature itself. I love that sound.

Lily had fun throwing rocks into the stream

After our time there we headed back on the path.

For my peace of mind I have to explain this picture.

First off, it is illegal to approach wild life.

I did not approach this doe, she approached me.

Second, it looks like I am petting her. I did not.

As a reaction to her approaching me I lifted my arm

(why I do not know, like I said, it was a reaction).

But I did enjoy having a deer that close to me! That is why I am smiling.

A bridge...

and now the same bridge but taken with the miniature affect...

doesn't look real, does it. It looks like something you would see off

a Thomas the Train set from the early 90's.

Josh absolutely loved this place.

He was just in awe of the gorge.

At one point along the trail we came to a whole section of rock wall that had water
dripping. It was such a peaceful sound.

I don't know why, but I thought this was beautiful.

J.D. found an elephant in this tree

(last year he found a cougar)

Out of all our days in Montana, this was my favorite day.
