Lily is 2

It's hard to believe that just two short years ago, we were blessed with a daughter, Miss Lily, or Lilybug. It just doesn't seem possible.
Like I mentioned in an earlier post, Birthdays are important to me. Not just for the whole "party", but because after two miscarriages, we have learned that babies are truely a miracle, and it is a huge blessing to have birthdays. And that each and every one that comes to pass is a blessing also.
Now, with that being said, I have always liked the idea of doing home-made birthday cakes. Mom did it for all of us growing up, and it was special that each year we got to pick out what cake mix we wanted and what kind of cake we wanted. So I want to do that for my kids as well. And so this year I tackled it again. I found an easy (or what I thought was to be easy) cake pattern for a butterly. Well I spent all day yesterday prepping and baking, and one of the cakes decided to bust on me. To say I was getting stressed is an understatement. A good, dear friend of mine offered to come over late at night and help me finish baking and decorating. And with her excellent ideas and skillful hand, the cakes turned out absolutely wonderful!

Before we went to bed Josh and I blew up baloons and scattered them on the kids bedroom floor, then taped streamers up above Lily's bed. That way when she woke up this morning, it would a wonderful surprise.

This afternoon we had a wonderful party with lots of loved family and friends that came to help us celebrate her birthday. . .
