Anniversary Trip Day 7

We packed up and headed back up along HWY 101. We said our good-byes to the big trees, but hopefully we will see them again soon!

We stopped at a town just a jog up the HWY to get gas and found this old train.
We didn't stop to read anything about it, but my guess is that
this is probably a replica of a train used back years ago for logging.

We cut across on 299 and stopped for lunch at a rest area. Here we met a huge group of bikers who were from Oregon and making their way to where we were coming from.

We were enjoying the beautiful scenery along the way...

But it didn't last too long. The road had turns every few minutes.

I started to get car sick really bad. I couldn't even enjoy the scenery anymore,
I just wanted to get off the road.
WARNING: Anyone who is thinking about taking this route
THINK TWICE!!

I was begging Josh to go slower around the corners.
We would occasionally hold up traffic behind us, so Josh would have to
pull over to allow them to pass.
Thankfully the kids did not get sick!

After driving all afternoon we finally made it over the mountains and to I-5!
We thought we would never get off that road!

Mt. Shasta

We only made it as far as Medford, OR that night. Like I said earlier, it took us all afternoon to cross 299. By that night Josh was not feeling good either.

I warned Josh about that mountain road before you guys left. I will never forget it.

We know that road, and yes, it's really really wind-y. It's absolutely terrible! 40 miles of left, right, left, right, left, right, left, right. I was begging Matt to go slower, and it didn't help.
