Trip to the Coast

We have friends who have chickens that are just a few weeks older than our roosters. They discovered that they had a couple roosters with their hens when they woke up in the morning to crowing. They told us that we only had a week or so left before our roosters started to crow. We knew that now was the time to git rid of them, so yesterday we packed them up and headed to the coast to visit Josh's family and drop them off.

While there, Joyce's neighbor has baby ducks, geese and a turkey. Josh was thrilled and had to show off a goose and the turkey. He took a special liking to the turkey...

We also brought Lexie, who is the big dark blob in the middle

Then she decided it was better if she ate the bread herself.
Why waste it on geese?

Then he wanted to play in the "dirt"...but it is all sand on the coast

Josh had his final minutes with the roosters, saying his goodbyes. It was hard to leave them, especially with all that we went through them them and our first batch of chicks and ducklings. But we simply couldn't have them where we live. J.D. didn't care if we left them. He care more about "his girls" as he calls them.

Being with JD while he was playing in sand was truly one of the happiest times of my whole life. He really enjoyed it. So did Lexie! His little truck is still sitting on top of one pile of sand and I dont want to move it, its right where he left off.
