The Great Escape (with Pics!)

Waiting to board the ferry. Deep fog and temps in the 50's in Anacortes.
Hot sunshine and temps in the 80's on San Juan Island.
What a change in just a matter of an hour or so!

San Juan Island here we come!

Most everyone joined in on a game of vollyball

Playing a game called "would you rather..."

Peter, Edwin, Aaron and Elizabeth hanging out

Having fun playing another game

A raucus game of Ulitmate Frisbee...
everyone's favorite game!

Can you see two boys in the tree?

Exploring the island's coastline

No, it's not what it looks like :)

We visited a lime kiln on the NE corner of the island.
This picture shows where the lime was dumped over
the edge of the rocks leaving a "lime stain"

Standing in front of the lime kiln, Elijah a.k.a. Hobo a.k.a. Hoobloo
shows off the rock that cut his toe.
A few minutes later he smashed this rock to pieces.

This was really neat. This tree had actually grown over and
around this old sign nailed to it years and years ago.

A skull found in the woods just a few feet outside our camp.
A racoon? or perhaps a coyote? Hmm, or maybe this explains all the
"Lost Dog" signs around... just kidding... sorta.
(We did find a leash tied to a tree just a little ways from this skull!)

Anyone up for an old fashioned game of horseshoes?

Who's ball is closest? Chris, Joel, Will & Josh enjoy a game of boccee ball

Aaron's bass he caught. Now, how should it be prepared and cooked?

Sliced, diced and breaded with... Tang and Goldfish crackers?!
Actually it turned out to be quite tasty!

Time to head back home!

So ends the 2009 Great Escape: San Juan Island.
We saw the Lord do some great things within
our group during our five days together.
We can praise Him for the blessings He has given us!
