Five Wonderful Years

Today is our anniversary.
Josh was able to get half a day off from work, so we celebrated this morning with a glass of sparkling cider. He wanted to take me out for breakfast, but my stomach wasn't up for food.

I got to thinking about how far we have come along in our five years of marriage: from where and what we started out with, and where and what we have now.
Granted, we do not own a home, but we have one car paid off, and one credit card almost paid off, but God has provided for all of our needs. We have food every month, and all of our bills get paid, even the unexpected ones.

In five years time we have started a family with our second child arriving in late January.
We have worked together in ministry and for income and have learned a lot about each other with just those experiences. For instance I have seen the passion that Josh has for telling youth about God's unfailing love, and his drive to make the lessons fun, yet applicable enough for the kids to take something away with them at the end of the night. I have learned that he truly studies the lesson's that he prepares to make sure that what he teaches is biblically correct, and if he doesn't understand something, he will dig until he can get an answer one way or the other.
He is one of the most honest people I have ever known (even when it comes to surprises and presents...however he does "stretch the truth").

We have witnessed the passing of loved ones and have leaned on each other for support. We shared tears as two of our babies were not meant to live in this world.
We have experienced the joy of seeing our baby in an ultrasound and being able to see and hear the heartbeat. We also have been able to share the wonder of a newborn baby, our baby.

As I look back upon these five years, I not only look upon the good memories that bring us laughter, but the rough ones as well, for those rough ones have helped mold us to be the couple we are today.

I have enjoyed the ups and downs of these five years, and look forward to spending the next 60 years with him (by the way he will be 89 and I will be 86).

To many more "good times and bad, richer or poorer".
