Bottles for Babes

This afternoon my friend Carrie and I went to a local church and helped our Caring Pregnancy Center get ready for a fund raiser they do every year. We tie tags and ribbons around baby bottles that will be handed out to people begininng on Mother's Day. They are to put any loose change in the bottles and then are collected on Father's Day. They normally average $12 in change per bottle. And when you have hundreds (and I mean hundreds) of them, it all adds up. They use the money to buy any material they may need to help these women and girls that come to them for help. Our table tied 100 bottles alone.
Then when those were done, Carrie and I made diaper cakes. This was a little challenging, but really fun and so cute! You take diapers, roll them up and form a cake out of them. Then you take binki's, socks, hats, onesies, teething rings, rattles and add them to the cake as decorations. And as a cake topper, you put on a stuffed animal. I did a frog one and it turned out pretty decent. I wish that I had a picture of it, but our camera isn't working at the moment.
It was a fun afternoon and I got to see a few people I haven't been able to see in a few months.
You can see pictures of the afternoon on Carrie's blogg.
www.leingangs.blogspot.com and she posted it as Baby Bottle Campaign.
